Horse’s Honor Senior Equine Sanctuary

Horses’s Honor Senior Equine Sanctuary, established in 1999 by Niña Thompson, is settled on eighty acres of ranch land in the rolling hills above Lincoln, California. Since then, Niña has rescued hundreds of horses but today the Sanctuary provides a safe, natural and permanent home for twenty-five elder equines. Some, never knowing a decent life before, came from a variety of unfortunate circumstances including abuse, neglect, or even marked for slaughter. Residents now receives high-quality feed, daily attention and routine farrier and veterinarian care. To sustain the horses, we rely on monetary donations and used tack is always welcome for our Discount Tack Store located at Echo Valley Ranch Feed Store in Auburn. This November marks the 14th Annual Horses’ Honor Tack Sale in Auburn, our main fundraiser that is Northern California’s largest used tack sale. Other fundraisers are the Buy A Bale program for hay, a Raffle Prize of a Four Day Pack Trip to visit Wild Mustangs, A Day at the Race for Horses’ Honor held at Golden Gate Fields Racetrack and a new program is developing where people can “Sponsor” a horse or donkey of their choosing.
